PlayStation 5 Pro Pricing Debate: Sony Defends the Cost and Features
The high cost of PlayStation 5 Pro remains a subject of intense debate since its announcement. While many gamers continue to express dissatisfaction with the system's price, analysts and some developers believe that Sony's pricing makes sense given the current market situation and what the upgraded console has to offer.
According to an interview with IGN, Toshi Aoki, the head of product management at PlayStation, addressed the cost of PS5 Pro and the decision not to include a disc drive with the console. "The technologies we are implementing aim to give players new experiences. This includes not only increased power but also the use of SSDs, Wi-Fi 7, and other solutions that enrich the gaming experience," said Aoki. "So I would call our offering a complete package that will present exceptional value for players... the most dedicated players, who are our target."
Sony developed PS5 Pro to offer all the latest technologies, including an SSD with 2 TB of storage and Wi-Fi 7. According to Aoki, we believe we have created a comprehensive solution that suits most gamers.
Regarding the disc drive, Sony sees its inclusion as optional. Not everyone has discs, although the majority do... and for those who don't, there is the option to add it. So this more so a matter of balancing the pricing offer we are providing.
