Microsoft and BlackRock Want to Raise 100 Billion for Artificial Intelligence

Microsoft and investment manager BlackRock want to raise $100 billion through an investment fund for the financing of data centers, AI infrastructure, and new energy sources to power these facilities. According to the partners, such required investments are indeed larger than what a single company or government alone can finance.

"We want to ensure that AI innovation fosters growth in every sector of the economy," said Microsoft executive Satya Nadella. "The Global AI Infrastructure Investment Partnership will help us make this vision a reality."

Microsoft also invests significantly in artificial intelligence. For instance, it has invested over 10 billion dollars in OpenAI, the company behind the popular chatbot ChatGPT.

Support from Nvidia

Investments in expanding or building data centers and creating new energy sources for these facilities will primarily focus on the United States. Nvidia, the main provider of AI chips, will support the partnership with expertise. Microsoft will provide technical advice and financing. Additionally, MGX, an investment company established earlier this year in Abu Dhabi, is also partaking in the collaboration.
