Inferno Cab Heater Installation Guide for Arctic Cat and Tracker Models

The Inferno cab heater, specifically the SBSS-SSHK526 model, is designed as a direct-fit solution for Arctic Cat and Tracker vehicles. This article details the installation process based on the provided documentation, covering pre-installation steps, louver installation, wiring procedures, and final heater mounting. The instructions are applicable to Arctic Cat – Textron Wildcat XX (2018 - Current) and Tracker XTR1000 (2019 - Current) models.

Pre-Installation Procedures

Prior to installing the Inferno cab heater, several preparatory steps are required. First, the main skid plate must be removed (PIC01). Following skid plate removal, the front hood panel needs to be detached (PIC02). The overflow tank bracket should also be removed, and the tank itself repositioned to the front of the machine (PIC02). Finally, the factory wiring loom must be unsecured and temporarily held out of the way using a zip tie (PIC03). These steps create the necessary access for subsequent installation phases.

Defrost Louver Installation

The installation of the defrost louvers involves marking, drilling, and securing the louver components. A defrost louver cut-out template, included with the heater, should be taped to the front edge of the middle dash. The locations for the two defrost louver holes are then marked using the template. A 2.5" hole-saw is used to drill the two holes. The louvers are comprised of two pieces; the face is separated from the adapter, the face is set into the hole, and then the adapter is secured from the back. Duct clips are then installed on the adapters. Two 24" pieces of duct are cut and attached to the backside adapter of the louvers using zip ties.

Floor Louver Installation

Similar to the defrost louvers, the floor louvers require precise hole placement and secure mounting. A 2.5" hole-saw is used to drill the holes for the floor louvers (PIC05). The floor louvers, like the defrost louvers, are two-piece units. The face is detached from the adapter, the face is placed in the hole, and the adapter is then secured from the back. Duct clips are installed on the adapters. Two additional 24" pieces of duct are cut and secured to the backside adapter of the floor louvers using zip ties.

Wiring and Heater Mounting

The wiring process involves connecting the provided wiring harness and rocker switch. The Inferno rocker switch is installed in one of the factory switch openings. The switch connector is then plugged into the back of the rocker switch. The OEM connector from the wiring harness is plugged into the factory 12v accessory connector (PIC06). The high/low fan wires (orange/yellow) are left disconnected at this stage, as they will be connected to the heater box in a later step.

With the wiring partially completed, the heater can be positioned. The heater is placed in the hood opening (PIC08). The high/low (orange/yellow) wire connectors are then connected to the heater box resistor (PIC07). Finally, the four runs of duct, previously prepared, are connected to the heater using zip ties (PIC08).

Conclusion

The Inferno cab heater installation for Arctic Cat and Tracker models involves a series of steps, beginning with pre-installation preparation, followed by the installation of both defrost and floor louvers, wiring connections, and culminating in the secure mounting of the heater unit itself. The process utilizes provided components, including ductwork, zip ties, and a wiring harness, to ensure a direct-fit installation. Proper execution of these steps, as outlined in the documentation, results in a functional cab heating system.
