Ex-Apple-designer Jony Ive Confirms Working on OpenAI-Hardware

He was once the top designer at Apple, but in 2019, Jony Ive started his own design bureau LoveFrom. For a long time, rumors circulated that this company was working on AI hardware for ChatGPT maker OpenAI, and these have now been confirmed by the founder himself in an interview with The New York Times.

A little over a year ago it became known that another top designer from Apple, Tang Tan, had made the move to Ive's bureau. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gruman already suggested at the time that Tan would focus on developing AI products in collaboration with OpenAI.

There are few details known about the hardware project in question, except that according to the NY Times, it would be funded by a venture of Ive himself and Emerson Collective. According to the paper, there are currently around ten people working on the project, including former Apple employee Evans Hankey, who was responsible for iPhone design at the fruit company.
