Did you know that coffee and tea can also be smoked? In China, a remarkable gadget has been invented that will introduce new flavors to your familiar drinks.

On the popular crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, a unique gadget created by artisans from Shenyang (a city in China) is gaining popularity. It is called Smokpub. The manufacturer calls the device "the world's first portable beverage smoking device."

To recall, a smoking device in the traditional sense is a room for storing and thermal processing of fish, meat, or cheese. Products in this place are dried over smoke, lose some moisture, and acquire a distinctive smoked flavor. The same thing is offered by the Chinese for whiskey, coffee, tea, and other drinks.

Smokpub looks like a small hookah that needs to be placed on a glass. Inside, you need to fill it with sawdust and turn on the device. It will ignite the sawdust and release smoke directly into the container. The process takes about 5 minutes, as a result, any drink gets a woody aroma.

The creators of Smokpub claim that the device can also be used for smoking salmon, steaks, nuts, or cheese. It is not necessary to immerse the products in a glass for use; it is enough to hold the device over the food while smoke is released.

The device works thanks to an electric panel, unlike traditional gas smoking devices. The user will never get burned, as the heating elements are not accessible to the fingers. Inside Smokpub there is a battery of 3.7 V, one charge of which will be enough for 130 ignitions. The device is made of stainless steel, covered with plastic and is easy to clean.

Price and Availability

The invention conquered Kickstarter - in less than a month, users collected more than 500 thousand dollars to support the project. The authors plan to start selling the device in December of this year. The retail price is 89 dollars (8700 rubles). As a gift, the buyer will receive a mini-set of cherry and oak sawdust. You can also purchase birch, pear, or apple sawdust separately, although they are sold almost on any marketplace.
