Digi Belgium Launches

The fourth mobile operator launched this summer, but it seems there are delays.

Digi Belgium claims that the launch of their telecom services in our country is currently in the final stages. However, this does not mean that the deadline to launch has been met.

Digi Belgium is a collaboration between Cegeka-sister company Citymesh and the Romanian Digi. The company aims to become a national mobile network provider, combined with Citymesh, and lead the consumer broadband services through Digi Belgium, which is led by Jeroen Degadt.

The company is currently testing glass fiber in Brussels, where they are looking for customers in the Kuregem neighborhood. Today, over a thousand households are available in the city's central area. The ambition there is to have a glass fiber network with 2 million households within five years in all major cities.

However, the focus is on the 5G network of Digi Belgium and the associated offer. This is currently being tested through Proximus, with the option of eventually having a national infrastructure. The company realized that it would be a price breaker with more interesting tariffs than those of Proximus, Orange, and Telenet/Base.

On the specific offer, the company is currently waiting because the network is still being tested. Whether the launch will be this year or postponed to 2025 is currently not very clear.
