Google Exploring the Possibility of Purchasing Electricity from Nuclear Power Plants

Google is considering using nuclear energy to power its data centers to meet the growing demand for energy for artificial intelligence (AI) projects and achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030.

Google's CEO Sundar Pichai, in an interview with Nikkei Asia, stated that AI technologies require enormous amounts of energy, and Google is seeking access to carbon-neutral sources.

Besides purchasing electricity from nuclear power plants, the company is also exploring opportunities for investment in solar energy and small modular nuclear reactors.

This decision by Google follows similar steps taken by other IT giants such as Amazon and Microsoft, which have already started using nuclear energy to power their operations.
