First Hydrogen-Powered Ship in Russia to Begin Testing in October
The Krylov State Scientific Center (KGSNC) announced that the first hydrogen-powered ship in Russia, named "Ecobalt," will begin testing in October. General Director of the organization Oleg Savchenko revealed this information in an interview with RIA Novosti.
KGSNC is a key developer of innovative projects for ships, materials, and technologies for the Russian Navy. "Ecobalt," equipped with an electrochemical generator developed in collaboration with "Ak Bars," is a 12-person recreational boat. This will be the first hydrogen-powered ship in Russia fully produced domestically with an indigenous electrochemical generator.
Savchenko noted that the project was carried out with the participation of partners, including Polytech from Saint Petersburg, and the Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant named after Gorky, based on the concept of the Baltic Ship Design Bureau "Baltsudoproekt" of the Krylov Scientific Center.
"We plan to begin testing in October of this year. Our goal is to demonstrate its potential to future customers," Savchenko emphasized.
