Cleondris: a Swiss Software Tool for NetApp Environments
Cleondris, a Swiss software company that secures NetApp environments, introduces One, a solution combining backup, security, and compliance in one platform.
Daily IT news only confirms it: cyberattacks are not only becoming more frequent but also increasingly sophisticated. "We are facing ever-advanced multi-vector attacks that can paralyze operations within minutes," warns Dr. Christian Plattner, CEO of Cleondris, during the recent IT Press Tour.
Specializing in a Niche
Cleondris is not just another generic cybersecurity product responding to those attacks. "We believe in specialization," says Plattner. "By focusing exclusively on NetApp environments, we can provide the best solution for those specific platforms." Cleondris has been specializing in data protection for NetApp environments since its start in 2006.
With Cleondris One – introduced at the NetApp Insight conference in Las Vegas – the company is going beyond just offering a shield against ransomware. One is, indeed, a Swiss Army knife-like solution that combines security with backup and compliance into one platform. It must provide, for example, proactive threat detection using advanced AI algorithms, minimize downtime, and facilitate quick data recovery after an attack. On top of that, it includes automated compliance functions to meet regulations like GDPR.
Surgical Precision in Data Recovery
This Swiss Army knife can also go back with surgical precision to recover files. Granular Cyber Restore is this feature. "Not just a regular restore program; it's a real turning point in how the aftermath of an attack is handled," emphasizes Plattner. Granular Cyber Restore combines forensic analysis with data recovery, allowing you to quickly and accurately identify which files were affected and only restore those specific files. "This is different from most other recovery software where you have one chance to return to a certain moment in time, a data copy that you are sure was not compromised by malware. But the downside is that you also lose all good data stored after the infection," explains Plattner.
Via Blockchain
Cleondris One achieves this via blockchain technology. It creates "audit trails" that cannot be tampered with. "Every file access and modification is securely logged in the blockchain," Plattner explains. "This provides an irrefutable proof for audits and investigations, ensuring the integrity of your data."
He also boasts about the solution's ease of use. "We seamlessly integrate with every existing NetApp Ontap solution and are confident it can be implemented in less than an hour. It's as if you flip a switch to suddenly add protection without having to alter your workflow."
Although Cleondris is a Swiss company, it operates globally through a growing network of resellers and implementation partners. "We are proud that some of the world's largest companies entrust their valuable data to our software," says Plattner, without naming them specifically.
