Snapdragon-powered Vehicles Get Unreal Engine Support: Expect New Infotainment Systems

Qualcomm and Epic Games announced the first-ever implementation of Unreal Engine on the Snapdragon Cockpit platform for vehicles. However, this goes beyond gaming and focuses on enhancing in-vehicle infotainment systems.

Using Unreal Engine and Snapdragon chips, automakers can develop entirely new user interfaces for multimedia systems and scalable digital instrument panel systems for various vehicles and displays.

The new platform based on Unreal Engine is now available to developers, so we should soon see new infotainment systems with excellent graphics in vehicles equipped with Snapdragon chips.

“Unreal Engine is the most open and advanced tool for creating real-time 3D content, providing unparalleled accuracy and capabilities, regardless of whether you're creating something for games or user interfaces,” said Bill Clifford, Vice President and General Manager of Unreal Engine at Epic Games. “By collaborating with the pioneer in HMI, Qualcomm Technologies, and leveraging the power of Unreal Engine and Snapdragon Digital Chassis, we are eagerly anticipating when automakers will unlock new horizons in the realm of automotive experiences.”
