15-inch Laptop with 12mm Thickness and Weight of Around 1kg with OLED Screen for $700

There are deals on the laptop market that can be very attractive in terms of price and performance due to a particular feature. Samsung has just announced such a novelty.

The Galaxy Chromebook Plus with a price tag of $700 is the talk of the town. For a Chromebook, this is a rather high price, but it's worth considering that it is very lightweight (1.17 kg) and thin (11.8 mm), and this is all while boasting a 15-inch screen. Moreover, this screen is an OLED panel. It's difficult to find other laptops on the market with such features.

However, the savings are achieved not only due to the absence of Windows, but also due to the platform. The heart of the device is the Core 3 100U, which has only six cores (two large and four small). This allows the laptop to be made much cheaper, but the performance of such a PC will not be impressive. However, for basic tasks, it will still be enough.

The rest of the specs include 8GB of RAM, a 256GB storage drive, and 13 hours of battery life. Additionally, it is the first Chromebook with a physical Quick Insert button.

The Quick Insert key provides instant help wherever you need it. When you press the special keyboard button, the menu instantly provides you with access to everything you might need, from editing what you're writing, adding a URL link instantly, or quickly searching for the perfect emoji or GIF. Here are just a few examples of what you'll find:

  • Quick access to the "Help me write" function, which uses Gemini models to help you write new text, edit what you've written, or change the tone.
  • Emojis and GIF files that can be easily added to any text field
  • A list of recently opened websites, for adding links without searching, copying, and pasting between windows
  • Integrated Google Drive search, allowing you to attach files, photos, videos, or anything else from your Google Drive without being distracted from your work
  • Tactical tools for performing simple calculations, adding a specific date, and converting units of measurement where needed

The Quick Insert key is only available on the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus, but existing Chromebook users can use this feature with keyboard shortcuts. Starting next year, the key will be available on more Chromebook and Chromebook Plus laptops, along with the ability to quickly create images generated by AI, from the Quick Insert menu.
