At the opening of the India Mobile Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 5G telecom services today. Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea have all provided the 5G connectivity for their smartphones and other networking devices. Each operator demonstrated the benefits of the 5G technology in India in the following months.

The India Mobile Congress has been jointly organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). After announcing the introduction of 5G services in India during the event, the Prime Minister visited the pavilions created by different telecom operators.

Through the Jio Glass, the Prime Minister received additional technical demonstrations at Airtel, Vodafone Idea, C-DOT, and others at the event. Other demonstrations that will be shown in front of the Prime Minister include precision drone-based farming, automated guided vehicles, and many more.

According to reports, 5G is able to unlock new economic opportunities and societal benefits, giving the country the potential to revolutionize traditional technological challenges and spur innovation by companies and businesses. It will also encourage and drive innovation by SMEs and enterprises as well as advance the ''Digital India'' vision.

5G connectivity is expected to be up to 10 times faster than 4G. Even in densely populated areas, it is expected to provide ultra-low latency and high-speed connections. These features might greatly benefit e-health, augmented reality, automated vehicles, advanced mobile cloud gaming and more.
