Google Chrome is one of the most widely used browsers, and one of the reasons for its adoption may be the availability of extensions that can be accessed on the Chrome Web Store. However, as there are around 140,000 extensions available in the pool, users often face the issue of being able to purchase good and safe extensions. Google has introduced two new badges, the Featured badge and the Established Publisher badge. The badges are aimed at eliminating the clutter and offering superior extensions to Chrome users.

In a blog post, Google noted that these badges are now available on the Chrome Web Store. Interestingly, publishers will not be able to purchase these badges through monetary transactions. Developers must submit a request for their extension to be reviewed to receive a featured badge.

The request may be made on a one-stop support page. More information about badging on the Chrome Web Store may be found on the site.

Let us take a look at Google''s new badges:

Featured badge

Chrome will award Featured badges to Chrome users who have been manually vetted on the basis of a few guidelines. The badge will be given to Chrome''s web store users, including the use of latest platform APIs and respecting users'' privacy. Moreover, Google hopes to maintain user privacy and security while browsing the search engine.

Established Publisher badge

The new badge is extended to verified developers who have adhered to Developer Program Policy. It is also up to the publisher to present a positive performance history with Google services in order to get the badge. Developers may get it verified here.
