During the October event, Microsoft announced the next generation of its Surface Pro tablet. This includes several key features, including 5G connectivity and ARM processors, new vibrant colors, and new accessories.
The Surface Pro 9 is the first Microsoft tablet to include both Intel and ARM processors in the same lineup. Users may choose a variant with Intel''s 12th Gen Core i5 and Core i7 processors, according to Microsoft. The neural processing system in the latter provides high-speed 5G connectivity (first time in any Surface), improved battery life, and improved video interactions thanks to automatic framing, voice contact, and background blur.
Both the Surface Pro 9 and the Microsoft SQ3 processor have 8GB, 16GB, and 1TB of LPDDR5 RAM. Both storage options include 128GB, 256GB, and 1TB. The latter is only available on Surface Pro 9 models with Intel processors. Note that all Surface Pro 9 variants come with user-replaceable solid-state drives.
Microsoft''s Surface Pro 9 is the first tablet in the Pro lineup to feature vibrant, colorful chassis. In addition to now-classic Platinum and Graphite, users may also purchase the computer in new Sapphire and Forest versions.
The Surface Pro 9 is available for purchase with the new Surface Pro Signature Keyboard, which is made of partially biobased Alcantara, with at least 12% renewable content derived from sugarcane waste.
The Surface Pro 9 is comparable to its predecessor, but it no longer has a headphone jack. Microsoft has ditched a 3.5 mm audio port, leaving only one Surface Connect and two Thunderbolt/USB-C 4.0 ports (only on Intel). The ARM-based Surface Pro 9 now has two USB-C 3.2 ports.
Microsoft''s latest flagship tablets will be available for regular customers and commercial clients. Intel''s vPro processors are included in the commercial version, which allows customers to get the Surface Pro 9 with Windows 11 Home preinstalled.
