The holders of Aadhaar who received the unique ID more than ten years ago but have not updated their details since then, are being asked to update their identification and residence proof forms, according to the UIDAI.
The government agency responsible for distributing Aadhaar numbers stated that the upgrade may be done online as well as at Aadhaar facilities.
The document states that individuals who received the unique identification number more than 10 years back have not done any updation since the issue was "required" to update their records.
UIDAI did not state whether or not this updation was required.
"Anybody who had received their Aadhaar ten years back and failed to provide the information in any of the following years is being asked to do document updation," said the document.
On payment of the required fee, the updation of identification papers and proof of residence is being done.

"This facility can be reached on the My Aadhaar portal or by visiting the nearest centre of Aadhaar," according to the report.
The Aadhaar program enables identification by the iris, fingerprint, and photographs.
The Aadhaar number has been identified as a source of identification for individuals over the last ten years, according to reports. It is used in various government programs and services.
Individuals are expected to update their Aadhaar data so that it may be avoided as a result of the identification/ certification in a bid to get the government benefits.
