Ahead of Google''s big Pixel 7, 7 Pro and Pixel Watch launch event this week, Google has dropped a couple of Nest updates to its smart home devices.
First up, a new Google Nest doorbell, this time complemented by a new Wi-Fi 6E-toting Google Nest Wi-Fi Pro, and updates to the Google Home app. More on the app bits in a mo, but these announcements may suggest that Google will not update other smart home devices this year.
The $179 wired Nest Doorbell is a follow-up to Nest Hello and is designed for pets with existing doorbell mounting. Unlike most Nest Aware Plus subscribers, the recording will be cut out if the power is reduced.
The wired version is somewhat slimmer than its battery-powered counterpart, but it is equally as robust.
The Google Home app has been improved with a fresh camera view, new automation features to make the most of sensors, and also support for devices running with the new Smart Home standard Matter. The app will be a public beta first, which will begin in a few weeks.
