Flipkart, an e-commerce company, said on Friday that its platform achieved 1.6 million concurrent users per second on the first day of its festive season sale.
The annual sales for e-commerce websites like Flipkart, Amazon, Meesho, and Snapdeal have begun.
Flipkart said that early trends in its The Big Billion Days (TBBD) sale indicate that the general consumer sentiment towards festive shopping is quite positive.
It said that many customers expressed interest and desire for mobile devices, including large appliances.
"TBBD 2022 saw an unprecedented number of concurrent users on the app 1.6 million per second," Flipkart said. Compared to the previous year, the number of Flipkart Plus customers who used Early Access during the event saw a healthy increase. The majority of these customers were from Tier-2 cities and beyond.
On day 1, the Walmart-owned company said its easy payment option, Flipkart Pay Later EMI, has increased by 12 times.

Shopsy, a e-commerce platform developed by Flipkart, produced a majority of customers from Tier-2 markets and beyond, with sarees, men''s T-shirts, and headphones as the most popular items.
Flipkart claims that a cycle was sold every second during the first 24 hours of the event in the sport and fitness category.
"Customers from Bharat (Tier-2 cities and beyond) continued to find value in the choice offered by Flipkart across sectors.

"The highest orders came from New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and other cities, such as Berhampur, Howrah, Lucknow, Kolkata, Jaipur, Karnal, Patna, Bhuwaneshwar, Visakhapatnam, Surat, Agra, and Ghaziabad," the company said.
