Mark Zuckerberg Reveals WhatsApp Reactions to Launch Today ...

WhatsApp Reactions will begin rolling out today, with the instant messaging platform meeting with rivals such as Telegram and iMessage, along with productivity apps such as Slack, and Instagram. In the initial stage, there will be six - like, love, laugh, surprise, and thanks - people will be able to respond quickly to messages with an emoji, although testing has dropped.

The Meta-owned company made the announcement via a Twitter post by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who last month endorsed the feature as coming soon in the company''s vast announcement about WhatsApp Communities. As we stated, there will initially only be six WhatsApp Reactions, something Zuckerberg will also highlight in his story - see below.

A future update may however allow WhatsApp Reactions users to utilise any emoji, GIF, or sticker in the messenger, according to a recent source, citing evidence in a development build. For the time being, the larger emoji reaction palette is not yet available even to beta testers.

The WhatsApp Reactions feature has been in beta since the beginning of 2018, but initially, sticker reactions were planned, before taking something closer to its final version in beta last year. In the past, the feature has been referred to as Emoji Reactions, Message Reactions, and Quick Reactions.

Communities will include several features beyond WhatsApp Groups, according to WhatsApp''s big announcement last month, including allowing admins with new tools, such as the ability to send a single message to everyone and control over which groups may be included in a particular community.

WhatsApp had also offered further update recommendations, including a higher file sharing limit (up to 2GB) and the possibility to allow group audio calls for up to 32 persons simultaneously, of which until now only the latter has been introduced.
