Samsung has surpassed the foldable phone in recent years, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to be even better than the current ones.
We will not be in sight until very late in 2023, so there aren''t many rumors about it yet, but here are a few things we have learned, as well as information about the date and price.
If you want to keep up-to-date, you may also update this article whenever you encounter new information.
Plus, at the bottom of this article, youll find a wish list of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, we want to ensure that all of the problems with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 have been addressed.
Cut to the chase
The release date and the price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 have been announced.
There is no timetable for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, but the Galaxy Z Fold 4 was unveiled on August 10 of 2022, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 was unveiled in August of its release year, albeit somewhat earlier on August 5.
For the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, so early to mid-August appear to be probable, but these announcements all took place on a Wednesday, and therefore our best guess for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 release date is Wednesday, August 9 of 2023.
There''s no word on the price yet, but the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 starts at $1,799 / 1,649 / AU$2,499, so a similar price is possible.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 news and leaks
So far, there has only been one real Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 leak, which claims to be the phone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipsets would be used in many Android devices in 2022, including the Galaxy Z Fold 4. So either the Gen 2 or a Plus version of it seemed to be feasible.
The same source suggests the phone will have a triple-lens rear camera with a 50MP main sensor. This is exactly what the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is, with the other two sensors being a 12MP ultra-wide and a 10MP telephoto so this might mean there arent many upgrades to the camera. Although this is far out we would do all of this with a pinch of salt.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5: what we want to see
Five key things it must do to ensure that Samsung is the ultimate foldable phone. This article has been written below.
1.The same cameras as the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 cameras arent bad at all, but they aren''t Samsungs finest. Despite the fact that the phone is the company''s most expensive smartphone, anyone who can spare the sort of money is likely to want the best of the best, and on the camera front it just does not manage that.
So for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 we want the phone to match the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra''s camera configuration, which, based on previous form, will likely have the best snappers.
2.No visible crease
Samsung''s foldable screens are, however, broken the crease, which is still visible and soothing when you swipe across the screen.
This isn''t a huge deal and is something most people will quickly get used to, but it is an imperfection in an otherwise excellent screen, so we''d like to see Samsung successfully hide it on the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
3.A lower price
The only major issue with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is how much it costs, as this is one of the most expensive phones on the planet, which is making the iPhone 14 Pro Max almost cheap by comparison.
Given the size of the screen and the skill involved, the price is very high, but if this foldable line is ever to be truly mainstream then the price must decrease, and we hope it will be reduced with the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Most Samsung phones require a bit of work, but the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is no exception. Both versions are far lower than other smartphones, such as the 150W OnePlus 10T or the 120W Xiaomi 12 Pro.
We will not expect or require Samsung to achieve these kinds of charging speeds, but we want to at least see the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 split the difference and offer around 60W-80W.
5.A bigger battery
Along with faster charging, wed also like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 to have a larger battery. At 4,400mAh, the one in the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is usually very large, but actually smaller than the batteries used in many conventional phones.
The Z Fold 5 has a huge foldable screen, so it may work with a particularly large battery. So at a minimum, we want a 5,000mAh one in the Z Fold 5, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, which has that, so it shouldn''t be too much to ask for.
