Yakuza Is Like a Dragon 8 and Like a Dragon Gaiden Is Released ...

During a special Yakuza franchise broadcast, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio (RGG) revealed two additional projects just a day after the release of Like a Dragon: Ishin.

Like a Dragon 8, the next game in the mainline RPG series will be followed by Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Gleichzeitig, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is coming as an action-adventure journey with the original character.

Kiryu Kazuma, the original protagonist in Like a Dragon 8, was easily the greatest surprise in the reveal trailer, which shows below the game. Before Ichiban Kasuga took over the role in the seventh game, RGG is bringing the popular duo together for this RPG entry, offering both characters as protagonists with their own crews.

This entry is expected to be the largest Yakuza game ever created by RGG Studio. The developer also said that there''s a good reason why Kiryu is getting a new look here.

While for fans who wish to know exactly what happened to Kiryu between Yakuza 6 and 7, (Yakuza: Like a Dragon) and how his narrative fits into the upcoming sequel, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will fill those gaps.

This side-entry will feature the original action-adventure gameplay style of the series, but it will be about half the size of a typical Yakuza game.

Like a Dragon 8 has a launch window in 2024, while Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will be released on February 21, 2023. All three games are multiplatform, reaching PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
