In August this year, OnePlus launched its flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 10T. Interestingly, when it was launched, rumors said it was the company''s last flagship phone for some time, implying that it may not launch a flagship smartphone anytime soon. According to some rumors, such plans have changed, implying that a OnePlus 11 (or 11 Pro, according to some rumours) might happen as soon as the end of this year itself.
What the OnePlus 11 could feature
According to reports, courtesy of China-based counselter Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the company is planning to develop a new smartphone that will include Qualcomm''s next-generation flagship chip. Internally dubbed the Qualcomm SM8550, the chipet is expected to be Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 a follow-up to the current Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 that is in use in most premium phones, including the OnePlus 10T itself.
Qualcomm''s announcement of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset will be accidentally disclosed, but here''s the moment the company will launch.
Top smartphone manufacturers expected to launch in September 2022: iPhone 14 Pro Max, OnePlus 10 Ultra, Xiaomi 12T Pro, and others.
The launch timeline for Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro has been tipped, as well as the colours, RAM, and storage options.
Unfortunately, nothing else is known so far about the upcoming OnePlus 11, or the next generation Qualcomm chip. In June, researchers stated that the 3nm chips are expected to be a 4nm chip, but given that the chips are expected to become available to phone manufacturers early in November itself, it is unlikely that the 3nm chips will be produced by the end of 2022.
If the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 does a significant increase in performance than its predecessor, it would also be a major improvement. The present flagship has been a reliable chipset, and features in almost every high-performance smartphone right now.
Xiaomi may be the first OEM to launch a smartphone based on the new Snapdragon, but OnePlus is likely to follow the OnePlus 11.
